Hey everyone, I want to make an announcement that there are a few back yard breeders that have been blacklisted and supposedly stopped breeding several months back. I just saw some brand new posts from them about babies, so if you are adopting from another breeder, feel free to ask me if it's one of the people I'm talking about. I don't want to drop names here to avoid bashing and potential drama, but they have been blacklisted for unethical breeding, pairing rats too often, housing their pets in tiny containers with very little ventilation, and feeding poor food. They also had to surrender 90% of their rats several months back because they couldn't handle breeding or finding homes for the rats they produced. It was basically a hording situation and the pictures were horrid.
**Edit: I also forgot to mention there are a few people in this group that wanted to adopt from the person I am mentioning, but they deleted their messages, refused to meet up when scheduled, and never got back about the babies they wanted to adopt. Overall, just a bad experience...
While the babies do deserve homes, I encourage people to avoid supporting back yard breeders, or people who mass breed for profits. I am more than happy to refer people to other breeders I know, but they are becoming fewer and fewer, especially with one of my favorites that recently moved out of state.
